This is my third request for a return address.
I would prefer a $49 refund instead of more drives.
I am happy to describe the problems I have observed with both drives.
Drive accepts input files & builds a directory until list indicates 8GB is stored -- no sign of trouble when adding files. Later, if you pick a file copied after true capacity was reached there will be no data or only a corrupted fragment of the content.
How can we know if all files added after about 3.5GB of data are on the drive are missing or corrupt? A directory of additional files totalling 8GB in size overall will be built. The directory appears normal. However, CRC checks will reveal that almost all the files are corrupt. Spot checks reveals that the nature of the corruption is completely missing data or the presence of a fragment of only a couple bytes.
Corrupted 1-character file names are sometimes created. One or two of your file names may be repeated 100s of times until the directory shows a capacity of 8GB. Obviously identical file names in a directory are invalid.
I am concerned that, if two drives behave the same way, all drives will behave the same way.
For these reasons, I prefer a refund of $49.
