In 1952, the "Association for the Perlon Trademark" was formed in the Federal Republic of Germany to distance itself from other hosiery articles marketed under the same name - namely hosiery from the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was founded in 1949. The name "Perlon" was trademarked as a German invention in 1952. The initially insecure GDR did not react until 1959, when it renamed the longstanding product Perlon into "Dederon" - a term containing the official name for East Germany: DDR. |
